Thursday Thunks

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen & Kimber via phone & Skype conference, the color mango and the number 70566.

1. What color is your front door?
My front door is green.
2. We discussed our folks in previous TT so now tell me about your siblings. If you are an only child, tell me whether or not you wanted siblings, older, younger etc.
I have 4 siblings.....an older brother Chuck, the twins who are two years older; Claudia and Fred; and my baby brother, Rich. All live within 60 miles of me.
3. What color/type butterfly is your favorite?
I love the monarch the best.
4. Will you be celebrating Cinco De Mayo?
Nope!
5. Oprah- love her, hate her, or don't care?
I can't stand Oprah. Talk about someone who is a bigot! Opinionated! And self-serving!
6. Are you worried about the spread of swine flu?
No......it is just like any other viral illness. Wash your hands often and stay away from sick people.
7. Hard or soft pillows?
I like feather pillows the best.
8. How many trees are in your neighbor's yard?
About the same amount that is in mine. except that the neighbors on each side have hugh cottonwood trees and they are my least favorite of all tree.
9. What was the color of the last car you saw?
Dark blue....mine. I just came in from the garage!
10. When does your driver's license expire?
It expires next year on my birthday!
11. Look at the clock on your computer and type the numbers backwards.
722
12. When you put your pants on, what leg do you put in first?
Crazy question but it is the left!
13. How would you respond to this letter if you were an advice columnist.

I am an ugly woman. I was an ugly baby and child even! It is a fact. I am 36 now and I have never had a boyfriend, and I am still a virgin.

Due to me not having men in my life, I have poured everything I have in to education and my career. At 36 I am the youngest (and first female CEO) at a big, successful, tech company. I have over 200 personal patents and millions of pounds in investments.

I have everything: huge house, holiday villa in Spain, 3 cars, power boat, a race horse, etc. but as much I try to talk myself into everything being “great” I cannot help but to miss that special someone to share it all with.

Most of my friends are married with kids and I feel like I am gradually drifting away from them also.

Where can I find someone to marry an ugly woman?

My advice to her would be to quit putting herself down. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You don't need to be beautiful to find someone to love you. You need to love yourself first.

From the learning rooms...

I am so excited for my grandson. We have been working very hard are his grades that were so bad when he came to live with us. Part of the problem was that he wasn't going to school and that no one at home was helping him with the things he was having trouble with. So here are the new grades:

I am going to start the list of what I want to buy at the greenhouse.

I am reading...

I am still reading Death in Paradise

I am hoping...

I am hoping that we will soon have warmer weather and I can spend my days off outside.....I sound like a broken record

I am hearing...

I am hearing the birds chirping outside and All My Children inside.

Around the house...

Around the house I got the fish aquarium cleaned yesterday and lots of laundry done.

One of my favorite things...

One of my favorite things is seeing my grandson's confidence in himself grow everyday.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Same as always: Work on Monday and Wednesday, Justin and Paige here on Tuesday and I have off Thursday and Friday.

Thursday Thunks

1. Did you play any April Fools jokes on anyone or have a joke played on you?
I wanted to wake the household up by screaming "Fire, Fire...run to the porch", but my son
was already up and he said it would give my poor hubby a heart attack and keep the kids awake for nights on end so I just told my 11 year old grandson he had a spider crawling on him but he didn't fall for it.....boring!!

2. If you could be on any non-reality TV show as a guest star or star, which one would it be and why?

Once in a while.

4. If you remember your first day of kindergarten, were you scared or excited? If you have kids or grand kids, were they scared or excited?
I remember hiding behind my mom's dress on the first day of kindergarten. I was scared to death....Nope none of my kids or grand kids have been scared at all.

5. If you are in the shower, hear the fire alarm going off and smell smoke/see flames, will you just run out of the house with a towel on or grab some clothes & dress as you run out?
Oh I will most definitely grab some clothes first.

My Sister's Wedding

My Walk down Memory Lane....Click on the picture above if you would like to join us!

Today I am remembering the day my sister got married. It was in November 1967.
She was still in high school and I was only 16.
She was going to marry her sweetheart and he was in the Army at Ft. Hood, Texas.
I remember that she wore a light blue suit with a little pill box hat.
I have no memory of what I wore and currently the pictures are packed away and I can't
get to them. Along with Denny, her husband-to-be and Delmar his Uncle it was just my sister and me.
We went to the courthouse in Pratt, Kansas for her to be married in front of the judge.
She didn't want a fancy wedding, much to my mother's dismay, and Denny's family
lived in Pratt. But no one came to the wedding. It was just the four of us.
We went inside the courthouse and found the proper judge's room.
The judge was a lady! He name was The Honorable Gladys Scott.
She called the four of us together and we stood in front of her.
She began the ceremony.
I started to giggle!
My sister started to giggle!
The guys looked at us with silly smiles on their faces.
The judge reprimanded us and told us how serious marriage was.
She sent us back outside and told us to think about the seriousness of marriage and
to return when we could be serious.
Wow!
We went outside and got our acts together and returned to stand in front of the judge.
I was scared to look up.
The marriage took place.
And my sister stayed married to him for the next 40 years.
But I still smile at the memory!

This is a picture of the Pratt County Courthouse long before we arrived for the wedding.
